Phuket Speedboat Rental: Plan a Private Island Trip

Phuket speedboat rental can suit a private island day when you want to spend more of your available time at the stops along the way. You travel with your own group and discuss the itinerary before booking. Choose the route around the time you have, your group’s comfort and the conditions expected for the trip.

When does a private speedboat make sense?

A speedboat can be a practical choice for friends or families who want a day of island visits, swimming and sightseeing. Compared with a sailing itinerary, it may make a longer route possible within the available time. The achievable schedule still depends on the boat, departure point and sea conditions.

Think about the journey as well as the destination. Open-water passages can be bumpy, and high cruising speed does not guarantee a comfortable ride for every guest. Tell the team about young children, mobility limitations or concerns about seasickness before selecting a boat and route.

Choose an island route you can enjoy

Racha Yai, Coral Island and nearby stops

If you want beach time and swimming, ask about a route to Racha Yai or Coral Island that suits your departure point. Adding another island also adds travel and boarding time. For a relaxed day, give one or two priorities rather than treating every possible stop as essential.

Coral Island

Racha Yai

Phi Phi and Bamboo Island

Phi Phi may appeal if you want limestone scenery and a fuller island itinerary. Ask how much of the day will be spent travelling and how much time remains for each stop. Access to individual bays and beaches can change; confirm the planned stops and any destination fees for your travel date.

Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay offers a different focus: limestone islands and coastal scenery rather than a day built only around beach swimming. Discuss which activities and stops are part of the proposed itinerary. A route described as a bay tour can differ substantially between operators and boat types.

More distant island trips

Destinations such as Koh Rok, Koh Haa or the Similan Islands need separate planning. Do not assume that every speedboat in Phuket can offer every destination as a comfortable day trip. Ask about the operating area, passage time, seasonal access and alternatives before choosing a distant route.

Our island guide compares the kind of experience different destinations offer. Once you have a shortlist, compare speedboats available for private charter.

Compare facilities before comparing prices

Check the seating arrangement, shade, toilet facilities and access to the water on the specific boat. Confirm the permitted number of guests and whether your group will have enough comfortable seating for the planned passage. Ask how bags and personal belongings can be stored.

If snorkelling is important, check whether equipment is included and whether suitable sizes are available. Tell the team if anyone cannot swim confidently. Stops and water activities should match the group’s abilities and the conditions on the day.

What should a speedboat rental quote include?

Ask for the boat name, charter duration, departure location, proposed route and total price. Confirm fuel for that route, crew arrangements, transfers, food, drinking water, equipment and any entry or activity charges. Check the cost of extra time or a change of destination before you book.

A private charter is generally quoted for the boat and agreed service, so the price per person changes with the size of your group. Compare offers using the same route and inclusions. A low headline price tells you little if important parts of the trip are charged separately.

Would a yacht be a better fit?

If your priority is a spacious place to relax, a cabin or a slower day on board, compare a yacht or catamaran as well. A speedboat’s travel advantages may matter less than comfort for a celebration or an outing with substantial rest time. Read our yacht charter guide for the main differences.
