Phuket weather now is a useful starting point when choosing a day for a yacht charter. Air temperature and a rain icon only tell part of the story. For an island trip, look at sustained wind, gusts, wind direction, waves and the hours you will spend crossing open water. Check the hourly forecast for your trip, then discuss the route with your captain or charter manager.
The current-weather cards refer to the Phuket Town area. When available, the sea forecast refers to a separate offshore point west of Phuket. Conditions can differ between these locations: a sheltered departure pier may feel calm while an open crossing is choppy. Neither block is a live measurement from your boat.
Wind speed describes the general conditions; gusts are short increases in speed. A modest average with much stronger gusts can feel different from what one number suggests. The direction shows where the wind comes from: SW, for example, means a southwesterly wind.
The chart shows how wind and gusts may change over the next 24 hours. Open the table beneath it for exact hourly values. All times are local to Phuket, UTC+7. The data refreshes automatically, with the provider’s latest update time displayed above the cards.
Significant wave height is the average height of the highest third of waves. It is not the maximum: individual waves can be higher. The same wave height can feel quite different depending on wave period, direction and the boat’s speed. Short, closely spaced waves can feel sharper than a longer swell.
If the marine panel is unavailable, it does not mean zero waves. For another forecast, check Windguru for Phuket. Compare the forecast date, hours, location and model, rather than judging by the cell colours alone. A forecast for the west coast should not automatically be applied to sheltered parts of Phang Nga Bay or an open crossing to Phi Phi.
The chance of rain does not tell you how many hours it will rain. A high percentage does not necessarily mean a full day of rain, and a low percentage cannot rule out a brief tropical shower. For a boat trip, the timing of rain, thunderstorms and visibility matter. Check the short-range forecast again on the morning of departure.
The three-day cards let you compare dates using temperature, maximum wind and the chance of rain. If you want to move your charter to another day, check boat availability and agree the change with your charter manager first.
Explore our Phuket yacht, speedboat and catamaran charter catalogue. Boats differ in size, layout, sheltered seating and open deck space. If you are travelling with children or anyone sensitive to motion, mention this when requesting a boat. The right hull and a more sheltered route can matter more than the air temperature.
Tell us your preferred islands, trip duration and departure area. Racha, Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay may call for different plans on the same day. Start with the catalogue to compare boats and routes, then discuss an alternative itinerary and the booking’s change conditions before confirming. Departure and route decisions take account of actual conditions and local restrictions.
We request fresh provider data approximately every 15 minutes and display its own update time. If an update is delayed, the page labels the older data; if it becomes too old, current figures are removed. Forecasts describe expected conditions, so they can change as the departure time approaches.
Weather data is supplied by WeatherAPI.com. The wind and wave explanations refer to NOAA’s wind and sea scales and the NWS definition of significant wave height. Detailed marine data depends on availability from the provider.
Send your date, group size and preferred islands. We will help match the boat and route to your plans.
